> Job description: on removing skirting board in living room under window I have discovered that the floor is damp at the base of the wall, I have scraped out the loose stuff and I have like sandy type stuff that is very damp, The house is an inner terrace and built in 1901, I'm not even sure it was built on any solid foundations (?) there is evidence of a damp proof course but I don't know if that ever worked? it was here when I bought the house 21 years ago, this is the only place where there is damp.
