Draught Proofing
Project Location: Lickey
> Property type: House
> Job description: The house is a 1960s detached whose entire South Elevation is wall to wall glass upstairs and downstairs separated by a woodwork layer about 1m deep. It is situated 900 feet up and commands a huge view but is also exposed to almost constant wind. We know that a significant part of the draught comes through the woodwork that has shrunk and we are seeking advice about reinstating 100% draught resistance. This could involve complete redesign and reconstruction of the S elevation incorporating conventional brickwork, or possibly there is a way of proofing the woodwork, reducing the amount of opening windows and using the best possible quality glasswork replacements. This a very unusual architect designed house. If there is a builder out there with this kind of special experience we would be interested to discuss the problem. The size of the whole S elevation is 12m x 5m and includes a recess for hidden sunblinds along the whole length.
