The position of the doors is flexible. There is (we believe) existing steel above the desired position of the walls except for a ~2m stretch on each length which would need to be bridged if a hanging system is used. This is the basement of our old church building, and the flooring is of uncertain quality/evenness and would need assessing to see if suitable for a floor mounted system. Our aim is to divide the large basement room to allow for separate classes of children/adults to function simultaneously in each room. The ideal solution would be to achieve the maximum acoustic reduction possible as there could sometimes be music/piano lessons taking place at the same time as meetings in other rooms, though of course our budget is a serious factor. Could you kindly quote for the different options you could supply and specify the various dB reductions associated with each. I will need to present your quotation to our trustees meeting which is coming up in just 2weeks, so the more you could assist me with a simple one or two page summary the more I will be able to present an appealing solution :-) I can follow this email with another containing four photographs and drawing of basement to give you a visual impression of the basement and the position of the desired walls. We are planning to construct a new ceiling as part of this whole project which is planned to be of a standard plasterboard construction with acoustic insulation to reduce sound transmission from the chapel room above.
