This is open and soot falls down, but probably only 10cm in diameter (rough guess). I wondered whether someone could test the chimney (with smoke bomb or equivalent) to see whether it's still drawing up and doesnt leak into the house before i knock out the chimney breast to put an original fireplace back in?
